Fugitive Coming to your favorite device

We have seen a huge praise and positive reaction to the Burgle Bros. app, and we are incredibly thankful for that. Now we are looking for your help with our next app implementation, Fugitive.

Fowers Games is looking for playtesters for our upcoming Fugitive app. We are hard at work putting together the best game we can, and we need your help to make sure the game is challenging and fun, as well as a gorgeous design.

We are looking for players with experience to teach our AI the best moves. Programming the AI in a deduction game can be tricky, and we are hoping you, our biggest fans, can help us teach the AI how to be the best fugitive.

If you want to help out with Fugitive, you can fill out this form. We will be in touch with playtesters in the coming weeks, hoping to get the most out of all platforms.

Wok Star print and play out now

We were incredibly blessed to see the reaction to the Wok Star and Now Boarding Kickstarter. We rocketed past our expectations early in the campaign and kept on cruising. Now, we are looking for some help.

We have released the print and play version of Wok Star into the wild for everyone to enjoy. You can print your own copy of this zany cooperative Chinese restaurant, playing alongside friends to deliver the best dishes as quickly as you can. All … right now.

But we are asking for a small favour. We are looking for feedback on this new version, opening up our game to the wisdom of the crowd. If you want to take a stab at it, check out our print and play available here

You can print off your own copy and tell us what you think. Are you having trouble with the rules? Do you find there’s too much down time at certain points?

Once you have your home made copy of Wok Star, play a few rounds. You can send any feedback you have to

A new home for Fowers Games

We have decided to move Fowers Games. But don’t worry, we aren’t going far.

This move has been a while in the making. We have been looking for more space, an opportunity to grow and spread our wings. You, our fans, have made Fowers Games a success, and now we need to grow and build upon that.

We have moved our offices into an historic home in the Salt Lake City area, an old house that will become our new board gaming headquarters. With more space, this will offer us the chance to really spread out and try new things.

With more space, we are able to do more for our fans and create more great content related to our games. You may have seen the videos we did showing off Now Boarding. It’s because of our great new space we were able to record fun videos to support the community.

You will still be able to get all of your favorite games here at the Fowers Games website. This just means we will be able to do more to develop and show off the best game we can.

Top prize for top Fugitive

It was a long path to victory for Sam Aho. He lost his opening round, falling quickly as the fugitive. But the longtime playtester would turn it all around to take the top prize as the Fugitive tournament champion.

Sam is one of our longtime playtesters and one of the first people to learn about Fugitive. He helped shape the game, providing feedback

“Tim was coming back from Pax South. He came over to my house the day after  he got back and he says ‘I came up with this idea for a game,’” said Sam.

“I loved the deduction portion of it, and the simplicity. I have playtested various games over the years, but this was the first I was heavily involved in.”

Sam saw the game through the playtesting to the Kickstarter launch, becoming a fierce competitor and almost unbeatable. His trick?

“I always try to play the player. I try to never become predictable. That’s how you lose,” said Sam. “I tend to be slightly more chaotic.”

Coming into the GenCon tournament, Sam was a strong favorite. His familiarity with the game and his honed skills meant he had a strong chance of going all the way. Then came the first round.

He dropped his first round to an opponent who caught him in the first two cards. “I got slaughtered in my first round.”

Sam moved on to a player with a systematic approach, taking his time to examine all of his options. What should have been a 10-minute game lasted a full 30.

He moved through the rest of the tournament, facing off against his first opponent in the final. But he would come out victorious in the end. And what did he do with the $300 top prize? What any right-minded person would do when they are flush with cash at GenCon. More games.

You can find Sam Aho online at Sam Says Reviews.

Own the art of Fowers Games

You have enjoyed the look and feel of our games, and now you can own the art you have seen in our favorite Fowers Games. Ryan Goldsberry, our resident artist, has opened his own Etsy store, with prints from all of your favorite Fowers Games releases.

Ryan Goldsberry, our resident artist, has opened his own Etsy store, with prints from many of the Fowers Games releases.

Fowers Games has a very long relationship with Ryan, having known him for the better part of 20 years. I reached out to him after graduating from college, while Ryan was working in video games, and asked him if he could illustrate a game I was working on with Tom Mason. “That game was the original Now Boarding. I said ‘Sure, why not?’ and the rest is history.”

Since then, Ryan has worked on Wok Star, Paperback, Burgle Bros., Fugitive, Hardback, Now Boarding, as well as the app versions of Paperback and Burgle Bros.

We work closely with Ryan on new projects and are in contact regularly. We brainstorm on themes and characters, and go back and forth as projects progress.

“I’ll experiment with art and get Tim’s feedback and often Tim will prototype rough art, and I’ll take that and try to make it look pretty,” said Ryan.”

Reaction to Ryan’s art has been overwhelmingly positive, and we were hearing at conventions that people were looking for prints.

“This is totally an experiment,” said Ryan. “I think the reaction has been positive so far. I’m very open to suggestions. If there are any particular pieces that people would like to see up in the store or any particular formats, just message me and I’ll see what I can do.”

If you want the artwork of Fowers Games to decorate your walls, then head over to Ryan’s Etsy store.

The story behind Now Boarding

Now Boarding has a long history for me. I started this project 10 years ago, working on a video game with my good friend, Tom Mason. The two of us were looking to develop a fun and crazy pickup and deliver game. The result was Now Boarding.

Unfortunately, Tom passed away a few months ago. It was difficult losing such a good friend and important part of my life. We had worked on games together over the years, and I miss him.  Since Tom’s passing, his family has received part of the proceeds from the Now Boarding videogame. It’s not a lot of money, but it supplements the family’s income.

When it came time to work on Fowers Games next project, Now Boarding was an obvious choice. I knew this labour of love would make a great boardgame, and the support the campaign has seen so far has proven that out.

In order to continue to support Tom’s family, half of the proceeds from Now Boarding will go to his family. It’s important to me, and to Fowers Games, that we recognize the contribution Tom made to this game. If it wasn’t for our early work together, this game wouldn’t be what it is.

Hopefully you will join me in honoring Tom’s vision.

More reasons to peek at the Burgle Bros. app

It’s been a few weeks since the release of the Burgle Bros. app, and the reception so far has been amazing. And if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, we have added some great features to don your cat burglar mask and give it a shot.

New to the app are a bunch of new modes that can either help or hinder your cat burglars make their way to the loot. Included is a mode where you can only see the guard when he is in your line of sight!  This makes the game incredibly tense, not knowing when the guard is going to come around the corner.

There’s is also whole new maps layouts that offer very different challenges. And now you unlock trophies as you complete maps with different team sizes.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out this great app, there’s no time like the present. It has been getting great reviews, with everyone from 148 Apps to Pocket Tactics praising the game in some way.

Check out the Burgle Bros. App, out now on Google Play and the App Store.

A GenCon recap

It was an incredibly busy and exhausting four days of gaming, but Fowers Games came away from GenCon excited about the industry and the future of our company.

We had an amazing reception at the conference this year, meeting with fans and interacting with media. We had a chance to show off some of our upcoming games, including Hardback, the Paperback expansion and, of course, Now Boarding and Wok Star.

We also had a great turnout for the Fugitive tournament, with some really high-level play being shown off. We came up with a great way to make an asymmetrical game fair in a tournament setting, using a points system in the round robin and a head-to-head in the elimination phase.

Long-time supporter Sam Maho, who has been playing the game since early prototypes, managed to come away with the $300 top prize, losing in the first round to the man he would eventually take on in the finals. And of course, the trophies were mini briefcases.

If you missed us at GenCon, fret not. Fowers Games will be at a number of conferences and conventions in the next few months. The first will be Austin Games Conference September 21 - 22, where Tim will be speaking. Tim will again be speaking at the SHUX conference, put on by Shut Up & Sit Down, in Vancouver B.C. on October 6 - 8. Finally, Fowers Games will be at Essen for Spiel '17 to meet our European Fans, October 26 - 29. We will also have a booth at Spiel, so make sure to come by booth 8A118 to say hello.

We look forward to seeing all of our great at conventions over the next month.

Now Boarding on Kickstarter

Are you ready to fly the friendly skies? You may remember the real-time passenger delivery flash game, Now Boarding. Fowers Games has turned the crazy real-time passenger delivery game into a board game, our latest project on Kickstarter.
In Now Boarding, you will work alongside your fellow pilots, picking up passengers throughout the country and delivering them safe and sound to their destination. But be careful. If you get too many complaints, your wings will get clipped.
Fowers Games has worked hard to bring you a cardboard version of the popular Now Boading flash game. Players move passengers across the country in real time, working against a timer to get everything completed in time.
Everyone is trying to stick to the on plan, all while the timer drips away. But now your friends are right there with you, working together to deliver passengers to their destination ... or at the very least stay out of your way.
Praise for Now Boarding
Already, reviewers are saying great things about the cardboard version of Now Boarding.
“Now Boarding is hectic and crazy, and just about makes you feel some sympathy for the airlines when they leave you stranded without a seat,” - GeekDad
“Interesting decisions, lively table talk, and a really good time ... there was mounting tension, there was laughter, there was success - the hallmarks of any great co-op ... I will be backing this on Kickstarter the minute it goes live.” -@gamegeekninja
Not sure how the cardboard version will work? We had a hard time describing the crazy co-op action, so check this video for a quick rules explanation, or watch us play through a full game with some friends.

Check out the Now Boarding Kickstarter
Now Boarding is a labor of love for us at Fowers Games. The flash version you have enjoyed is now 10 years old, a game I developed with my friend
Tom Mason.
Since then, I have been developing board games through my company, Fowers Games. Paperback, Hardback, Burgle Bros. and Wok Star have all been big successes. Now I am hoping you will help me make Now Boarding just as successful. I'm hoping you, the people who have enjoyed Now Boarding, will enjoy the new cardboard version and consider backing the Kickstarter
